What did you study?:

I am currently enrolled at Thompson River University in the bachelor of Commerce program.

If you could travel to one city where would you go and why?:

I would likely go to Tokyo, as I know a lot of people that have gone and they describe it as a city 20 years in the future. I love technology and it seems to have a great blend of history and futuristic technology.

What did you want to be when you were a child?:

As a young child, I was always told I’d be a great lawyer, so I considered that for a while. I also looked into similar financial roles, as well as becoming a personal trainer.

What activity do you like to do in your spare time?:

I like working out, cooking and activities with friends.

What book are you reading/ show are you watching right now?:

I’m not reading anything currently, but I’m currently halfway through the latest season of Narcos on Netflix.

Who is your inspiration?:

My parents are my inspiration – they moved here from a third world country and went to great lengths to provide a good life for us here. Their work ethic and determination, as well as their high expectations led me to push myself in all aspects of my life.

What is your favourite thing to do in Vancouver?:

I think there is a great food scene in Vancouver, especially in the downtown core.

If you could have coffee with one person, alive or dead, who would it be and why?:

I would love to pick Jeff Bezos’ brain, although I don’t know know if coffee would be enough. I think I would enjoy spending time with any great entrepreneur, as the scale of their business must have some very unique challenges that I’d love to learn about.

I enjoyed class discussions the most, so english classes were interesting. I actually enjoyed the accounting class I took in high school, but despised all of the math courses.

In two words: Problem solver. That’s the real goal. Implementations are just the avenue to solving the root issue, which tends to be a disconnect between the decision makers and the data necessary to make good decisions. My accounting background also means that my role is varied, as I’m often asked to jump in to a huge variety of projects.

What do you love about your job?:

I love that I can work on new tasks and projects on a weekly basis. The opportunity for learning is unmatched.

What tip could you give to small business owners to reach success?:

Although it may feel like a race, success is a marathon.

Spending a week without leaving my house

Secret talent that no-one knows about?:

I’m pretty flexible

I love the team we have developed. Everyone is easy to get along with and no matter who you’re in the room with, it’s never awkward. Everyone is friendly and laid back.

What do you like the most about working with startups and small businesses?:

They have unique challenges and every problem is different, so creative thinking is very important.
